Comingle

When I asked myself the question, “What would my ideal project be?” I narrowed it down to a few key requirements:
  • Addresses a big problem with a simple solution
  • Makes use of current technology and a friendly design
  • Can be a product that’s built from the ground up
  • Benefits a lot of people
  • Makes the world a nicer place for my kids to grow up in (not just about making money)
  • Deals with psychology, network dynamics, and behavioral economics
  • Falls into the category of “so crazy it just might work”
Turns out, I wasn’t getting a lot of emails for projects like that.
So when the idea for Comingle popped into my head a few years back, I thought, “Well that’s something that fits.” In a nutshell, it’s an app that coordinates a money-sharing network to help people help each other.
Money is far from my favorite topic, but there’s no escaping the grip it holds over how we conduct our lives. Money (or rather the lack of it) gets in the way of almost every worthwhile endeavor, so a tool that can provide some semblance of financial stability is one that I’m happy to build. You can read more about the project in this blog post.
