Asteroid Close Calls
Do you ever sit and think about the fact that our planet might be struck by an asteroid? The people over at The Planetary Society certainly do. And aren’t you glad somebody’s paying attention to such things? You should be, because, according to the data visualization they asked me to make, we’ve spotted 266 asteroids that have passed closer to Earth than the moon, each of them big enough to destroy a city.
