Still stuck at home with the kids while they’re out of school? Here are some great ideas for activities that will keep them busy throughout the day.

Check out cool resources on the internet

  • Log in to your virtual classroom and try to guess the words the teacher is mouthing as she shakes her head and points at her ear.
  • Watch the webcam showing the entrance of the food bunker and make sure nobody goes in or out. Got it kid?
  • Watch whatever you want except for that guy yelling about Minecraft on YouTube

Get in tune with music

  • Sing “Happy Birthday” while washing your hands again.
  • Stare wistfully out the window and sing “The sun’ll come out tomorrow…” under your breath.
  • Come here and listen to this Motörhead song Dad used to listen to back in the day.

Get active

  • Bounce off the walls
  • Re-enact the missing scene from Karate Kid where he performs the “wash hands” move.
  • Run. Run from the dark thoughts, sweetie

Fun in the kitchen

  • Spaghetti from a can again for some reason.
  • Pick the Cheez-its off the floor.
  • Form Pringles into a duck bill in your mouth, stare blankly at Mom and see how long it takes her to look up from her phone.

Arts and craft time

  • Use the cushions from the pillow fort to make a “sofa.”
  • Sculpt something out of suds while washing hands.
  • Scribble aggressively on a piece of junk mail.

Develop those math skills

  • Measure the amount of wine in the bottle at the start of the day and at the end of the day. Subtract the second number from the first, write down your answer and put it in the envelope in Dad’s desk marked “Attorney.”
  • If you’re out of school for at least 90 days and it’s 78 days until summer break, how many days until the cat starts sending Dad telepathic thoughts about germ warfare?
  • Count to 500 while washing hands.
